About Us
Seven Creeks Grafting began in 2020, inspired by a love of native plants and the demands of modern gardens. Through grafting, we elevate the striking flowering forms of ground-cover species to eye level, introducing height, structure, and visual impact into contemporary landscapes. The weeping and cascading forms of these plants offer a fresh perspective on the traditional native garden, bringing movement and elegance to outdoor spaces.
Grafted native plants are hardy and well suited to Australia’s changing climate, particularly hot and dry conditions. They are an ideal choice for modern landscaped gardens and provide the added benefit of a reliable source of nectar for native birds, bees, and other important wildlife.
At Seven Creeks Grafting, we specialise in rarer native species that are not commonly found in commercial plant nurseries.

A passion for native plants...
As 2nd generation native plant enthusiasts, a love for the beauty of Australian plants began with the work of Laurie and Freda Baglin. Life members of the Victorian branch of the Society for Growing Australian Plants, they opened their native plant nursery on Raftery Road in Kialla. Their nursery became a popular option for local gardeners.
Why grafted plants?
Growing conditions in Victoria are not suitable for some of the more stunning flowering forms of grevillea and other species. Most species grafted are from Western Australia where they have warmer winters and better draining soil. By grafting these plants to a tougher root stock, we address issues with drainage, lack of water, fungal diseases and breed a plant that can tolerate a wider range of growing conditions.
The grating process begins with the growth of the root stock. All rootstock is grown from locally sourced seed, ideal for Victorian growing conditions. It takes approximately three and a half years to grow the rootstock, graft and produce a standard size plant ready for sale.
Grafting takes place in the first three months of the new year. New stock becomes available in the second half of the year.
